Aces' Minard Named In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week

January 11, 2005 - ECHL (ECHL) News Release

PRINCETON, N.J. - Alaska forward Chris Minard is the In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week for January 3-9.

Chosen to represent Alaska in the 2005 Coors Light ECHL All-Star Game, the 6-1 and 200-pound forward scored nine goals, had four assists and was +7 as Alaska took four straight victories from Victoria. The 24-year-old Minard scored a team record and ECHL season-high five goals, including four in the first period alone, to lead Alaska to an 8-2 win on January 8. The Owen Sound, Ontario native also had two goals and an assist in a 6-3 victory on January 4 and two goals and two assists in a 10-3 victory on January 5.

Minard leads the ECHL with 24 goals and is tied for sixth in scoring with 35 points in 32 games. Teammate Scott Gomez assisted on four of Minard's goals and registered his second five-assist game of the week, having picked up five helpers in the Aces win at Victoria on January 5. The five points by Minard on Saturday and by Gomez on both Wednesday and Saturday tie the Aces' ECHL team highs from November 9 when Mike Scott and Joe Talbot each scored a goal and picked up four assists.

On behalf of Chris Minard, a case of pucks will be donated to an Anchorage, Alaska area youth hockey organization by In Glas Co, the exclusive puck supplier for the ECHL. In Glas Co has donated over 10,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities since it began sponsoring the award in 2000-01.
