August 25, 2013 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Reno Aces News Release
RENO, Nev.-The Aces fell 9-1 to the Salt Lake Bees on Sunday night, in the 2013 Aces Ballpark finale.
With the loss, the Aces finished the 2013 home slate with a 30-42 record, marking the first time Reno has had a losing record at home in a single season.
Salt Lake starter Matt Shoemaker recorded his 16th quality start of the season, and his fourth-straight outing of 7.0 innings pitched. He limited Reno to just one hit through the first four innings. The Aces did not manage to get a hit out of the infield until the sixth, when Tyler Bortnick singled to right center.
Reno's lone run came with one out in the seventh, as Taylor Harbin doubled down the right field line to plate Ryan Stovall. Stovall entered the game to pinch run for Alfredo Marte, who suffered an injured hand after being hit by a pitch.
Harbin recorded his fourth-straight multi-hit game, and has now gone 8-for-14 with three doubles across Reno's last four games. He has raised his batting average .015 in the stretch.
LHP Tyler Skaggs was charged with his 10th loss of the season for the Aces, becoming just the fourth pitcher in Aces franchise history to record double digit losses in a single season. He allowed five runs-three earned-on six hits through 5.0 innings.
Tomorrow, the Aces hit the road for an eight-game trip against the Tucson Padres and the Bees to round out the season. RHP Zeke Spruill (5-4, 3.20 ERA) will get the nod for Reno, while the Padres will counter with RHP Keyvius Sampson (1-2, 6.59 ERA). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. at Kino Stadium, and all of the action can be heard live on KPLY 630 AM.
Ticket packages are now available for the 2014 season at RenoAces.com, by calling (775) 334-7000 or by visiting the Aces Ballpark Ticket Office.
