Reno Aces News Release
RENO, Nev.-A night after posting 12 runs on 12 hits, Reno suffered a 7-2 loss to the Salt Lake Bees on Saturday at Aces Ballpark.
A trio of Aces batters-Tyler Bortnick, Taylor Harbin and Juan Rivera-collected two hits apiece through the first eight innings. Rivera hit his first triple of the season to lead off the fourth, and came across to score Reno's first run on an Ed Easley ground out.
Bortnick recorded another hit in the ninth, an RBI single to plate Alfredo Marte. The Aces had the bases loaded, but Brad Snyder struck out swinging to end the threat.
Harbin has now had three-straight multi-hit games, his longest stretch this season.
Mike Jacobs went 0-for-3 to snap his home hitting streak at 12 games, but a walk helped extend his home on base streak to 13.
Charles Brewer dealt a quality start, but was charged with his 12th loss of the season. He allowed three runs on five hits through 6.0 innings, while walking three and striking out four.
His 12 losses set a new franchise record for most losses in a season. Joe Martinez suffered 11 losses last season for Reno.
The wraps up Sunday night at Aces Ballpark. LHP Tyler Skaggs (6-9, 4.42 ERA) will get the nod for Reno, while the Bees will counter with RHP Matt Shoemaker (10-13, 4.83 ERA). First pitch is set for 6:05 p.m. for Reno's final home game of the season.
Tickets are available for tomorrow's game at RenoAces.com, by calling (775) 334-7000 or by visiting the Aces Ballpark Ticket Office.
