Reno Aces News Release
RENO - The Reno Aces and Arizona Diamondbacks have signed a two-year renewal of their player development contract, extending the Triple-A partnership between the two franchises through the 2018 season, both clubs mutually announced today.
The two-year renewal continues the two sides' partnership which began back in 2009, the Aces' inaugural season. In 2010, both clubs signed a two-year deal which ran through the 2011-12 seasons before agreeing to a four-year extension in June 2012, continuing the affiliation through the end of the 2016 season.
"The Diamondbacks have shown a commitment to quality players and quality people throughout our history," said Reno Aces President Eric Edelstein. "We've had a great relationship with the D-backs' front office, coaches and players over the past seven-plus seasons, and we look forward to continuing to partner with a world class franchise."
The Aces have seen many talented prospects come through the D-backs system over the last seven-plus seasons, including Nick Ahmed, Trevor Bauer, Patrick Corbin, Brandon Drury, Adam Eaton, Ender Inciarte, Wade Miley, Chris Owings and A.J. Pollock. This year's squad boasts five of Arizona's top-10 prospects according to Baseball America - right-handers Braden Shipley (No. 1) and Archie Bradley (No. 2), outfielders Sócrates Brito (No. 6) and Peter O'Brien (No. 7), and infielder Jack Reinheimer (No. 9).
A total of 40 different players have suited up for the Aces on Major League Rehabilitation Assignments. As announced earlier today, right-hander Josh Collmenter joined Reno on a Major League Rehab and will become the 41st player to make a rehab appearance in the "The Biggest Little City."
"The Arizona Diamondbacks are excited to extend our relationship with the Reno Aces," said D-backs President & CEO Derrick Hall. "I truly value the relationship between our two organizations, and could not be more thankful for the support the Aces, and the city of Reno, have shown our players and staff since 2009. We look forward to working with the Reno ownership group and the rest of the Aces' family for many years to come."
Entering play tonight, the Aces own a 532-508 (.512) all-time record, and they have advanced to the postseason three times (2011, '12-14) after securing Pacific Northern Division titles each of those years. Reno won the Pacific Coast League and Triple-A National Championship in 2012, the latter where Pollock was named MVP.
The Aces open a four-game series against the Iowa Cubs tonight at Greater Nevada Field. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. PT. Ticket packages are on-sale now at www.renoaces.com or by calling (775) 334-4700. Follow the club all season long on Twitter (@Aces) or like the team on Facebook.
