August 24, 2011 - Carolina League (CarL1)
Frederick Keys News Release

Miguel Abreu was the hero on Wednesday night as he drove in four of the Keys' six runs including a three-run blast off LHP T.J. House in the bottom of the fifth inning. Frederick topped Kinston 6-2 in a game in which the two teams combined for 24 hits on the night. RHP Ryohei Tanaka picked up his ninth win of the season as he surrendered one run over six innings of work.

Through the first three innings of Wednesday's contest the Keys and K-Tribe were scoreless despite both teams having multiple scoring chances. Frederick had four hits and left five runners on base in game's first three innings while Kinston had three hits and stranded three runners. The Indians, however, broke through in the fourth. With one out in the frame, SS Casey Frawley doubled to left-center. After an Anthony Gallas ground out moved Frawley to third, 1B Justin Toole singled home Frawley for the game's first run.

The Keys could not score against T.J. House until bottom of the fifth. With two on and two down, CF Miguel Abreu crushed a House offering to left field. Abreu's fifth home run of the season put the Keys in front 3-1.

Frederick would not relinquish the lead.

Ryohei Tanaka closed out his night with a scoreless sixth inning. Over six innings, Tanaka allowed one run on seven hits while striking out seven and walking none.

LHP Ashur Tolliver entered in seventh out the Keys bullpen and quickly ran into some trouble. Tolliver gave up back-to-back singles to Justin Toole and Roberto Perez. Then with two strikes on 2B Argenis Martinez, Martinez put down a bunt. Tolliver fielded and quickly fired over to third but Toole beat the throw. With no outs and the bases loaded, Tolliver buckled down. He struck CF Tyler Holt and RF Jordan Casas and then got DH Tyler Cannon to ground into a fielder's choice to end the inning.

The Keys added three more runs to their lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. With one out, Miguel Abreu singled home SS Manny Machado to put Frederick in front by three. Michael Flacco followed Abreu's RBI single with a two-run shot down the left field line.

Kinston plated a run in the ninth and loaded the bases with two down but LHP Chris Petrini struck out 3B Adam Abraham to end the game. Abraham finished the night 0-for-5 with five strikeouts.

Tanaka picked up the win on the night and improved to 9-5 while T.J. House fell to 6-12. Out of the pen, Petrini notched his third save of the season.

Frederick and Kinston close out their four-game set on Thursday night. LHP Rick Zagone (3-2, 2.84) will take the hill for the Keys while the K-Tribe will turn to LHP Mike Rayl (1-2, 4.67). First pitch from Harry Grove Stadium is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
