Aberdeen IronBirds News Release

Wappingers Falls, NY- The Aberdeen IronBirds, for a second consecutive Monday, played a 13 inning game. Unlike last Monday in Staten Island, the IronBirds came out victorious over the Renegades, 1-0 courtesy of a Sam Kimmel RBI double which scored Hector Veloz.

The win tonight snapped a fifteen game losing streak against the Renegades, dating back to June 19th, 2012.

It was worth the wait. Steve Brault got the start for the IronBirds and went four innings. He allowed three hits, striking out two.

Jose Figuereo, Jorge Rivera, and Dylan Rheault all pitched in relief before Nick Cunningham came on in the bottom of the 12th. He was able to send it to the 13th, and he pitched a perfect 13th for the win. He was the losing pitcher, in his first professional appearance, in the other 13 inning game last week in Staten Island.

Hector Veloz snapped a streak of 11 straight IronBirds retired in extra innings with a two out single in the 13th. Kimmel then came up and roped a double down the right field line on a 3-2 pitch that scored Veloz, who was off with the pitch.

Cory Jordan took the loss for Hudson Valley. He falls to 0-1.

The IronBirds will take on the Renegades in game two of the three game series tomorrow beginning at 7:05 p.m. Sebastian Vader will get the start for the IronBirds. Hudson Valley's starter has yet to be announced.
