Aberdeen Shuts out Connecticut in Front of Packed House

Aberdeen, MD - Under the lights of Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium in front of a packed house, the IronBirds dominated the Connecticut Tigers start to finish in a 4-0 win. Five 'Birds had hits and four pitchers combined for the shutout

BIG MOMENTS

Bottom of the first: Zach Watson, the third round pick out of LSU, hit a homer on the first pitch he saw. It was his first pro bomb. He doubled in the 3rd and scored on Toby Welk's RBI single to make it 2-0.

6th inning: Tristan Graham led it off with a triple, and Ian Evans scored him on his second hit of the night to make it 4-0.

Adam Stauffer: Aberdeen's starter stuffed the Tigers with four scoreless, then Griffin McLarty, Yelin Rodriguez and Shelton Perkins would follow to dominate Connecticut's bats.

NEWS & NOTES

Aberdeen has split a series so far with Connecticut that will conclude on July 17th. Tuesday's game was suspended in the third inning.

This was the second shutout for the IronBirds this season.

Through 18 games, Aberdeen is 7-11. They'll head to Coney Island for three games with Brooklyn starting on the 4th of July.
