
\'Birds ride big inning to victory

Memphis, Tenn. - Memphis used a six-run first inning to beat New Orleans 8-6 Thursday night at AutoZone Park.
The Redbirds sent nine men to the plate in the bottom of the first on their way to a six run inning. D'Angelo Jimenez and Jarrett Hoffpauir each drove in runs in the inning before Bryan Anderson capped the rally with a three-run homer. Anderson finished the night 2-for-3 with his first Triple-A home run. Shane Robinson was impressive in his AutoZone Park debut going 4-for-5 with a double and run scored. Jesus Feliciano led the Zephyrs with two RBI and former Redbird Robinson Cancel had a pair of hits.
Starter Jaime Garcia picked up the win for the âBirds with 6.2 solid innings. The lefty fanned 10 and gave up five runs, three earned, with no walks for his fourth win. Kelvin Jimenez picked up his third save with a spotless ninth. New Orleans starter Ruddy Lugo took the loss after allowing six runs on four hits in 1.1 innings.
The âBirds are scheduled to send Clayton Mortensen to the mound tomorrow night with New Orleans starting Brian Stokes. First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m.
