Last Week's Games
Friday, April 14th - Richmond 2 at Quad City 3
A playoff chase that ran throughout the second half of the season culminated on Friday night at The MARK. A tensely played affair was settled late in the third period on Matt Radoslovich's 23rd goal of the year. The tally with just 2:17 left clinched the Mallards 11th consecutive trip to the UHL post-season. In the first period, the Mallards took a 1-0 lead on a shorthanded goal by rookie forward Jesse Rycroft. The Riverdogs tied the score 2:15 later on a goal by Mike Oliveira. Chad Woollard reclaimed the Mallards lead with his 44th goal of the season with just 23 seconds remaining in the first period. After a scoreless second period, Oliveira netted his 59th goal of the year at 12:35 of the closing period to tie the game at two. With just over two minutes remaining, Radoslovich took a feed from Frank Littlejohn and found the back of the Richmond net to win the game. The win, in front of 6,091 Quad City fans, ensured the team a spot in the post-season. Motor City's loss on Friday evening clinched a seventh seed for the Mallards.
Saturday, April 15th - Quad City 5 at Flint 4 - Shootout
The Mallards closed out the regular season with a 5-4 shootout win in Flint. For the third time this year at Perani Arena, the Mallards scored in the game's final minute to force the shootout. Quad City grabbed an early 1-0 lead on a goal by defenseman Dan Pszenyczny. In the second period, J.J. Wrobel scored a power-play goal to stretch the Mallards lead to 2-0. Flint fought back on a power-play goal by former Mallard Dave Stewart. With the lead sliced to 2-1, Wrobel netted his second goal of the frame to give the Mallards a 3-1 lead after two periods. In the third, Flint reeled off three consecutive goals to take the lead for the first time. Stewart sparked the Flint offense with his second of the game followed by a pair of Terry Marchant goals (a power-play tally and a shorthanded goal). With the Mallards trailing 4-3, Terry Friesen was pulled from the Mallards net in favor of the extra attacker. While the sixth skater was on the ice, Frank Littlejohn scored to tie the game at four. The goal was Littlejohn's 27th of the year. Chad Woollard earned a helper on the goal to establish a new career high with 76 points (44 goals and 32 assists).
