Raptors 905 (13-21), the NBA G League affiliate of the Toronto Raptors, swept the season series against the Motor City Cruise (16-18) in the first of two matches, 116-102 in their 2023/24 season finale Friday evening. Darryl Morsell closed out the season with a 21-point, five rebounds, three assists, three steals, and two blocks. Motor City's Ryan Turell contributed a career-high 34 points and six rebounds in the xx.
Carrying on the momentum from their first meeting Wednesday morning, the 905 wasted no time getting on the boards as they opened the game on a 10-2 run. The two teams went basket-for-basket for the remainder of the quarter, but the 905 helped onto a seven-point lead going into the second. Motor City came out of the break firing, going on a 10-2 run to open the frame. The Cruise continued to fight back, outscoring Raptors 905 32-27, and cutting the deficit to three going into the half.
Motor City continued to build off their momentum in the second half, outscoring the 905 29-26 in the frame and taking a two-point lead going into the final frame. Raptors 905 mounted their comeback bid in the fourth, outscoring the Cruise 24-17 in the frame and sweeping the season series.
Raptors 905 received complementary scoring from Makur Maker and Kevin Obanor who added 19 points, 14 rebounds, and 18 points, 12 rebounds, respectively. Anthony Tarke and Nathan Knight also added double-doubles for their team contributing 11 points, 16 rebounds, and 21 points, 11 rebounds, respectively.
