67's Add Goalie
November 17, 2011 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Ottawa 67's News Release
(Ottawa ON.): The Ottawa 67's today announced the acquisition of goaltender Michael Nishi from the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in exchange for a 13th round pick in the 2013 OHL Priority Selection Draft.
Nishi played in 3 games for the Greyhounds this season posting a 4.02 GAA with a .889 SV%. His role on the team changed when the Soo acquired Jack Campbell, the team USA goaltender, who was picked up in a multi-player/pick deal with Windsor earlier this month.
"With Petr Mrazek possibly heading to the World Juniors and our number two Shane Campbell still recovering from hip surgery, we felt it was prudent to add depth to our team in the goaltending department," said 67's Head Coach and General Manager Chris Byrne. "Michael Nishi has proven himself as a solid back-up in the OHL and we're happy to have him on our roster."
An 18 year old Toronto native, Nishi is expected to join the 67's this weekend when the 67's host Barrie (Friday @ 7:30 PM) and Niagara (Sunday @ 2:00 PM). Also, the Bank Street reconstruction project has been completed so access to Lansdowne Park, for the first time this season, will be smooth sailing.
