Saginaw Spirit News Release
On Thursday night, the Saginaw Spirit returned home to The Dow Event Center to take on the Brampton Battalion. Spirit goals were scored by Trocheck and Shalla. They defeated the Battalion in a shootout by the score of 3-2. Tadeas Galansky was the #1 star of the game.
Spirit center Vincent Trocheck had the first goal of the night with an assist by winger Josh Shalla just over halfway into the first period. The rest of the period would consist of back and forth play without any more goals going into the intermission.
At the 7:21 mark in the second period, Brampton winger Barclay Goodrow got one past Galansky to tie the score. His assists were from Sam Carrick and Dylan Blujus.
Shalla kicks off the third period with a goal of his own, scoring his 4th of the season just 28 seconds in. The newest member of the Spirit, center Carlos Amestoy and winger Michael Fine assisted the goal. Brett Mackie of Battalion responded quickly for Brampton, with assists from Spencer Abraham and Matt McLeod tying to score back up at 2-2 and forcing the teams into overtime.
After a number of great saves by Tadeas Galansky, there were no goals in overtime which forced the game to a shootout. In the shootout, Vincent Trocheck of the Spirit scored the lone goal of the shootout as Tadeas Galanksy sealed the victory for Saginaw stopping three straight Brampton shooters.
