Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

It was not an easy evening to be an Isotopes pitcher, as the Las Vegas 51s came out on top tonight 17-7. Vegas' 17 runs, 23 hits, and five home runs were all season-highs for Isotopes opponents this season.

Albuquerque starter Jeff Hoffman did not get out of the third inning, allowing seven runs on seven hits during his 2.1 innings on the mound. The seven runs allowed by the right-hander marked a career-high in the shortest outing of his career.

Isotopes relievers Matt Flemer, Ryan Carpenter, and Simon Castro combined to surrender 10 runs on 16 hits over 5.2 innings out of the bullpen following Hoffman.

Scott Oberg came on in the ninth inning for Albuquerque and recorded a perfect frame.

While the 51s offense dominated, the Isotopes had a solid game at the plate as well. Brandon Barnes, Mike Tauchman, and Tim Smalling knocked in two runs each for Albuquerque on the evening. Rafael Ynoa also brought home a run for the home team.

The Isotopes recorded 15 hits during the contest with six players collecting multi-hit games. Jordan Patterson led the way with three hits on the night for Albuquerque.

The Isotopes will look to right the ship tomorrow evening in game two of the four-game set. Right-hander Jordan Lyles (2-2, 5.29) will take the hill for the Isotopes while the 51s will counter with fellow righty Rafael Montero (2-2, 4.61).

Prior to the game, the Isotopes will induct Paul Konerko and Stu Walker into the Albuquerque Professional Baseball Hall of Fame. First pitch on Dukes Retro Night is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
