Delmarva Shorebirds News Release
It was spectacular evening inside Perdue Stadium this past Memorial Day, Monday, May 30 as Your Shorebirds hosted three very special guests: The Alzheimer's Association Great Maryland Chapter of the Eastern Shore and our favorite Smallville Stars; John Glover (Lionel Luther) and Allison Mack (Chloe Sullivan). It was "Smallville, BIG Cause!" Night at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium as the entire team donned Special 'Smallville/Superman' Jerseys, which were auctioned off at the end of the game, with proceeds benefiting the Alzheimer's Association Great Maryland Chapter of the Eastern Shore. The silent auction for these super jerseys, plus ticket proceeds and a portion of the meet-n-greet dinner held inside Your Shorebirds Executive Club, all totaling raised over $4,500!
After the game, the winning bidders took the field and shook hands and received autographs from our Smallville Celebrities and their favorite Shorebird. During the presentation an awareness video on the affects Alzheimer's played on the stadium's centerfield video board. When completed the lights went out and Your Shorebirds capped off this remarkable evening with a spectacular fireworks display musically themed to "Smallville, Superman Songs."
"This was a very exciting event that Your Shorebirds and this community truly embraced and we were honored to have John Glover and Allison Mack arrive at Perdue Stadium to help raise money for the Alzheimer's Association Great Maryland. Our players were ecstatic to wear these jerseys and proudly supported this "super" night." Shorebirds General Manager Stephen C. Yaros stated. "We thank our players, fans, and everyone that came out on Memorial Day to support this cause, they all displayed their super human strength!"
Monday night, May 30 was anything but small, as our two big stars, Glover and Mack greeted fans, as Your Shorebirds were victorious with a 9-6 win over the West Virginia Power. Life inside Perdue Stadium for "Smallville, BIG Cause" was amazing!
Making this spectacular night all possible was the WB3, WMDT-TV/Channel 47 News, WB Network, The WAVE 92.1FM of Clear Channel Radio of Salisbury, The Alzheimer's Association Great Maryland Chapter of the Eastern Shore and our good friends from Smallville. America's Best Value Inn presented the evening's post-game fireworks display.
