SAVANNAH, Ga. â For the second time this season, the Savannah Sand Gnats failed to record a hit. This time it was the Rome Braves silencing Savannah's bats. Braves starter James Parr went eight innings, struck out nine and walked two Gnats and threw 98 pitches, but was pulled before the ninth inning. The 19-year-old righty was well past his pitch count as reliever Angelo Burrows shut down the Gnats in the ninth.
The Gnats wasted another strong outing as Ricardo Morales went 5.2 innings allowing only one run and striking out four.
It was the first night of Sand Gnats Survivor at Grayson Stadium as the five contestants will spend the night in the leftfield bleachers for the first of eight nights.
The Gnats will attempt to jump start their offense Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. at Historic Grayson Stadium. It will be the second night of Sand Gnats Survivor at Grayson Stadium. For tickets log onto www.sandgnats.com or call 912-351-9150.
