Hagerstown Suns News Release
The first-place Hagerstown Suns host the Lake County Captains for the first time this season when they return from a four-day road trip today, Tuesday, June 7. The Captains have defeated the Suns three of the four times the two teams have met in 2005, and is the only team in the league the Suns have a losing record against. But in Municipal Stadium, the Suns are 20-9 and have not lost a series in the eight times they have entertained an opponent.
With just twelve games left in the season's first half, the Suns need a vocal, raucous crowd to push the home team to victory! The Suns hold a one-game lead over the 2nd place Lexington Legends. The season's first half champion will receive an automatic bid into the league's playoffs. The South Atlantic League season first half concludes on Sunday, June 19th.
The festivities begin Tuesday, June 7th on Senior Day, presented by Bankers Insurace (Michael Barnes and Karen Wilt), featuring $2 admission for all seniors ages 60 and older. The 7:05 game is also an Old-Time Tuesday, showcasing baseball "the way it used to be" with no PA announcer, no promotions, no loud music and no commercials at historic Municipal Stadium.
On Wednesday, June 8th all kids are invited to eat FREE thanks to Susquehanna Bank and Cool 97.5 FM. All kids 12 and under paying for a full price General Admission ticket ($5) will receive a coupon for a FREE hot dog, popcorn, 16 oz. fountain drink and candy box. Wednesday's game against Lake County is also Mullet Night, featuring games and prizes to celebrate the haircut that's "business in the front, and party in the back!" Game time is 7:05pm.
Thursday, June 9th is the second Thirsty Thursday in a row at Municipal Stadium. Draft beers are just $1 thanks to Twigg Cycles and Today's Hottest Country 104.7 WAYZ. Thursdays are also Ladies Nights, where ladies can enter to win fabulous prizes. This Thursday also marks your chance to win a John Deere Gator in the John Deere Gator Giveaway Contest sponsored by Stoneham's John Deere. Game starts at 7:05pm.
The homestand wraps up June 10th with a Fireworks Friday presented by U.S. Cellular and WAYZ FM 104.7/Classic Rock 101.5/The Point 92.1 FM. Come see the Tri-State's best fireworks show following the game. Game time is 7:05pm.
