BOISE, ID - Highly touted prospect, Josh Vitters, has been assigned to the Boise Hawks. Vitters was selected by the Cubs with the 3rd overall pick in this June's draft. Vitters entered the draft as the top high school hitter on most draft boards.

The 3rd baseman from Anaheim, CA appeared in just 7 games with the Mesa Cubs this summer. Vitters hit .067, going 2-for-30 with 0 HR's and 2 RBIs.

In addition to Vitters, pitchers Hung-Wen Chen, Marcus Hatley, Simon Lee and outfielder Cliff Andersen have also been assigned to Boise.

Hung Wen Chen is a right handed pitcher from Taiwan. Chen was 0-0 at Mesa with a 10.12 ERA. He made 2 appaerances with 1 start. In 2.2 innings pitched, he struckout 3.

Marcus Hatley is a right handed pitcher from San Marcos, CA. He was 1-3 at Mesa with a 3.82 ERA. He appeared in 13 games with 6 starts. Over 37.2 innings pitched, he struckout 26 with a 1.27 WHIP. Opponents hit .254 against him.
