Eugene Emeralds News Release
EVERETT - Revved up after having lost 11 straight games, the Eugene Emeralds brought their bats to Everett Memorial Stadium Wednesday night and defeated the Frogs 10-2. The Em's shelled AquaSox pitching for a total of 14 hits. Designated Hitter Yefri Carvajal killed the ball going 3-for-5 including a 3-run home run in the 3rd inning. Brad Chalk, Kellen Kulbacki and Lance Zawadzki all had multi-hit games for Eugene.
Eugene starter Mat Latos was able to contain Everett's recently formidable lineup going five innings and allowing five hits, one run, one walk and striking out ten. Latos got the win improving his record to 1-4. Meanwhile, Sox starter Doug Salinas struggled allowing six runs in three innings and earning the loss (2-8). The Frogs were held to only six hits in the game and struck out 15 times. Edilio Colina was the only player in Everett's lineup to avoid striking out at the plate.
In better news, big lefty Joe Dunigan finally went yard to the homer porch in right field; a highly anticipated event by all AquaSox fans. The 6th inning blast made the score 6-2 in favor of Eugene.
The Emeralds and AquaSox will play one last time for the season on Thursday night with a 7:05 pm start at Everett Memorial Stadium. It will be Silvertips Night at the ballpark where the first 1,000 kids 14 and under will receive an AquaSox Hockey Puck presented by Alfy's True Italian.
