Mississippi RiverKings News Release

SOUTHAVEN, MS --- The Mississippi RiverKings in conjunction with the Central Hockey League released the schedule of games for the 2007-2008 season today. The RiverKings will embark on their 16th campaign in the Mid-South with the season opener on October 19 at the DeSoto Civic Center versus the division rival Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs at 7:05.

The Central Hockey League 2007-2008 regular season schedule consists of 64 games, 32 at home and 32 on the road, for each of the circuit's 17 teams. The RiverKings will play 56 of those 64 games against competition from their own Northern Conference and eight versus the Southern Conference. The team will face team's from their division, the Northeast, 30 times; the Northwest Division 26 times; the Southwest Division twice and the Southeast Division six times.

Unlike last season, when the first half of their schedule was heavily weighted with home games, this season's schedule is more balanced throughout. Last season, 17 of the team's first 23 games were at the DCC. The 2007-2008 schedule has the RiverKings playing 16 games at home and 16 games away from the DCC through the midway point of the season. The schedule features 10 home Friday games and 10 home Saturday games.

Where opponents are concerned, the RiverKings' most common opponent is the Bossier Shreveport Mudbugs with 12 games, six at home and six at Bossier City. The next most common opponent is the Youngstown Steelhounds at 11 meetings, six at home and five in Northeast Ohio. The Steelhounds were the RiverKings' most played foe last season with 12 meetings. The Steelhounds first visit to the DCC will be the second game of the season on Saturday, October 20.

Other highlights of the season include games with the defending President's Cup Champion Colorado Eagles at the DCC on Saturday, December 15 and at Colorado late in the season on Friday, March 7. The club will also travel to four time President's Cup Finalist, and two-time champion, Laredo twice during the season. The RiverKings will travel to face the Bucks Thursday, January 3 and Friday, February 1.

Another highlight will be the Third Annual Face-Off Field Trip Game on Tuesday, January 22 at 10am. The RiverKings will host the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs in a game that last season had over 7,000 area schoolchildren in attendance.

With the exception of the Face-Off Field Trip and two Sunday games, all other home games at the DCC will face-off at 7:05. The two Sunday games scheduled for January 20 and March 16 will commence at 5:05.

The RiverKings will not play Amarillo, Arizona, New Mexico or Rio Grande Valley this season. The returning Texas (formerly Fort Worth) Brahmas are on the RiverKings' schedule seven times, four at home and three at the NYTEX Sports Centre in North Richland Hills, TX. The Brahmas join the RiverKings in the Northeast Division along with Bossier-Shreveport and Youngstown for 2007-2008.
