The Ice Bats and CHL release 2007-2008 Schedule

Austin Ice Bats News Release
(Austin, TX) - The Austin Ice Bats' 2007-2008 Pre-Season and Regular Season Schedule has been released today by the Central Hockey League.
The Ice Bats will open their regular season at Chaparral Ice Arena against the Texas Brahmas on Friday, October 19th at 7:35 PM.
Saturday, October 27th, the Ice Bats will be on the road against the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees. This will be the first of 30 games to be played against division opponents. Another one of those divisional rivals is the President Cup runner up, Laredo Bucks. Austin's first meeting with the Bucks will be a Sunday matinee on November 4th at 4:05 PM at Chaparral.
"The schedule is pretty straight forward and has a good mix of opponents," said Ice Bats Head Coach, Brent Hughes. "We play nearly half of our games against division rivals, which allows us to control our own destiny. There aren't as many Sunday games, which is nice for players to recover after playing on Friday and Saturday nights."
The Ice Bats will also participate in four "home and home" series during the regular season. On February 9th, Laredo visits Austin for a 7:35 PM puck drop. The next day, the Ice Bats travel to Laredo for a 4:00 PM start. February 16th, Bossier-Shreveport comes to town for 7:35 PM game, and on February 17th Austin will travel to Bossier-Shreveport for another 4:00 PM faceoff. The Ice Bats will return to Chaparral Ice arena on February 21st to host Rio Grande Valley at 7:35 PM, and then play the Bees on the road the next day, again at 7:35 PM. The final "home and home" series for the Ice Bats will again be against Rio Grande Valley on March 8th and 9th. Austin travels to Rio Grande Valley on the 8th, then welcomes the Bees to Chaparral on the 9th at 4:05 PM.
The 2007-2008 campaign will conclude the same way it begins, with a home contest against the Texas Brahmas at Chaparral Ice Arena on March 22nd at 7:35 PM.
The Ice Bats will play three pre-season games starting on October 11th vs. Laredo at Chaparral Ice Arena at 7:00 PM, in a game available to season ticket holders only. Game two will be October 12th against Laredo in College Station, TX. And game three will be against the Mississippi Sea Wolves of the ECHL on October 13th at 7:30 PM at Chaparral Ice Arena. "This is something I've always wanted to do," says Coach Brent Hughes. "It gives us a chance to see how we add up against an East Coast League team, and it's good for our players to see how they add up against players from the East Coast League."
