Killer Bees Release 2007-08 Schedule

HIDALGO, TEXAS --- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League (CHL) today announced the details of the team's 2007-08 Fifth Anniversary Season schedule. The Bees open the season at home on Friday, October 19, vs. the Corpus Christi Rayz at 7:35 p.m.
The Killer Bees will play a 64-game schedule, including 32 homes games at Dodge Arena, with the majority of their games taking place against Southeast Division rivals. Killer Bees fans will enjoy 27 weekend games, with 25 of those dates on Fridays or Saturdays. All games begin at 7:35 p.m., with the exception of Sundays (4:00 p.m.) and the Kid's Only game (10:30 a.m.)
For the third season in a row the Bees will open the season at home (October 19), while they close the campaign at home for just the second time in franchise history (March 22). The Bees play every team in league except for Mississippi (formerly Memphis) and Oklahoma City.
"This year's schedule features the most Friday and Saturday games in the history of the team," said Killer Bees General Manager Grant Buckborough. "We appreciate the hard work of the CHL office, and the cooperation of the Dodge Arena staff, to make our Fifth Anniversary schedule so attractive to our fans."
Highlights of the home schedule include "Five at the Hive Night," scheduled for Saturday, January 5, 2008. The Bees host the defending President's Cup Champion Colorado Eagles that night, while the Top 5 Bees Players as voted by fans will be honored during the game. Other notables include Laredo's first visit (Saturday, Nov. 3) and the annual Kid's Only Day game (Wed., March 5, vs. Bossier-Shreveport).
All totaled the Bees play 57.8% of their games against Southeast Division foes the Austin Ice Bats, Corpus Christi Rayz and Laredo Bucks. The Bees will play those teams a total of 37 times combined, including six road games at each opponent's venue. Rio will host Austin and Corpus Christi six times each, while the Bucks visit the Dodge Arena seven times.
Rio's busiest month will be November, when the team packs 13 games (eight at home) into 30 days. Rio's longest road trip will be in January, when the team plays six-in-a-row away from Dodge Arena.
Killer Bees season tickets are available now for the 2007-08 season, the team's fifth in the Central Hockey League. Every weekend game will be broadcast on KURV 710 AM Talk Radio, with most weekday games on ESPN Radio 1240 AM. Individual tickets will go on sale soon.
