MANCHESTER, N.H. ... The Manchester Monarchs and the American Hockey League announced today that the 2005 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic, which will take place in Manchester, New Hampshire at the Verizon Wireless Arena on February 13-14, 2005, is sold out.
The AHL All-Star Skills Competition, scheduled for a 7:05 p.m. start on Sunday, February 13, will include players from the Canadian AHL All-Stars competing against players from the PlanetUSA AHL All-Stars, a team comprised of the league's top players born outside of Canada. The teams will compete in seven different events: Puck Control Relay, Fastest Skater, Rapid Fire, Hardest Shot, Accuracy Shooting, Pass and Score and Breakaway Relay.
The 2005 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic concludes with the AHL All-Star Game, scheduled for 7:05 p.m. on Monday, February 14. The annual showcase features some of the finest young talent in the game; since 1995, more than 92 percent of the players who have suited up for an AHL All-Star Game have competed in the NHL, including Martin St. Louis, Miikka Kiprusoff, Zdeno Chara, Steve Sullivan, Pavol Demitra, Patrik Elias, Vaclav Prospal, Marc Savard, Daniel Briere and Tomas Vokoun.
Tickets for the AHL All-Star Party Palooza, a fun-filled evening featuring three separately themed parties rolled into one, are still available. The parties will include musical entertainment from Beatle Juice, The Fat City Band and Hot Like Fire. AHL All-Star Party Palooza tickets are $30 and can be purchased at the Verizon Wireless Arena box office, at all Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at (603) 868-7300 or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
Now in its 69th season, the AHL continues to serve as the top development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams. The 2005 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic will be televised live in the United States and Canada.
The Verizon Wireless Arena opened its doors in the fall of 2001 and was immediately recognized as one of the premier event facilities in New England. The Monarchs, who have led the AHL in attendance each of the last two seasons, are owned by and affiliated with the NHL's Los Angeles Kings.
