Chicago Wolves News Release
The Chicago Wolves and the Hoffman Estates Park District will hold a grand opening celebration of the Wolves¹ new practice facility and the Hoffman Estates Park District Community Center and Ice Arena, 1685 W. Higgins Rd., on Sun., Jan. 30, from 3 to 6 p.m.
The facility, which opened its doors in November, underwent a $12.5 million renovation and expansion starting in October 2003 to add two sheets of ice; a new fitness center; party rooms and offices; a pro shop and the Wolves hockey operations office. The Wolves, who will continue to play regular-season and playoff games at the Allstate Arena, will have the option of hosting exhibition games at the facility this fall.
An official dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 4 p.m. in the main lobby. Facility tours will be available every 15 minutes at the front desk, giving visitors a chance to see the entire community center, including the Wolves' state-of-the-art locker room.
Free public skating will be available from 3:15 to 4:50 p.m. Starting at 4 p.m., visitors can skate alongside Wolves players. Fans will also have the opportunity to get autographs from their favorite players and Skates, the team¹s mascot, throughout the event. Figure skating and hockey clinics for adults and children of all ages will also be offered.
For more information on the event, log onto the Wolves¹ website at chicagowolves.com or the Hoffman Estates Park District¹s website at www.heparks.org.
