Fort Myers Mighty Mussels News Release
Jays Spoil Bark in the Park with 6-2 Win
FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Dunedin Blue Jays (13-10) used four hits for Danny Jansen in a 6-2 win as the Fort Myers Miracle (10-13) fell by four for the second straight night. The one and nine hitters for Dunedin scored five of their six runs to earn RHP Jordan Romano (W, 2-0) the win.
The Blue Jays struck for three unearned runs in the top of the third against starter LHP Lachlan Wells (L, 1-3). Two errors in the inning allowed Kevin Vicuna, Andrew Guillotte and Cavan Biggio to score. Jansen supplied the first of his four hits, a double, down the left field line to plate runs two and three. Dunedin added two more in the fifth with RBI-singles by Max Pentecost and Jansen.
With the score 6-0 in the sixth, the Miracle plated their two runs on RBI-hits from Alex Perez and Zander Wiel. Four of the first five hitters in the inning collected hits and chased Romano from the game. With one out and runners on second and third, Brian Navarreto flied out to right. With Alex Perez tagging, trying to score, Guillotte cut him down at the plate to end the inning and the threat.
In the eighth and ninth, Fort Myers had the tying run in the on-deck circle, but could not push anymore runs across. RHP Kender Villegas (Sv, 2) recorded the final out of the game, a strikeout of Max Murphy, to pick up the save.
The Miracle look to avoid a sweep of the Blue Jays with number 1 starter RHP Dereck Rodriguez on the bump. He opposes 6'7" lefty Angel Perdomo of Dunedin. First pitch on Family Funday Sunday is 4:05 PM ET.
