PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - Stone Crabs shortstop Jake Cronenworth collected two more hits Sunday, extending his hitting streak to 24 games in Charlotte's 4-2 loss to the Bradenton Marauders at Charlotte Sports Park.

Cronenworth singled in the fourth and the eighth innings, raising his season average to .388. His streak is now tied with Francisco Leandro for the third longest streak in Rays' Minor League history. The Rays' record is 28 games.

With the Stone Crabs trailing 4-0 in the bottom of the eighth, Cronenworth's single in the eighth preceded another hit by Angel Moreno . With runners at first and second and nobody out, Brandon Lowe doubled off the wall in left field to score Cronenworth and bring the Stone Crabs to within 4-1. After a strikeout, Ryan Boldt flew out to right field to plate Moreno and make the score 4-2. However, Marauders (13-11) reliever Bret Helton managed to retire the next four batters to seal the win.

Bradenton's biggest inning came in the top of the second. With the game scoreless, Jerrick Suiter doubled to right. After a flyout, Danny Arribas tripled to right center to score Suiter and give Bradenton a 1-0 lead. Alfredo Reyes followed with a single to right to make it 2-0. Two batters later, Kevin Krause walked ahead of Cole Tucker, who singled up the middle to extend the lead to 3-0.

Stone Crabs starter Michael Velasquez (0-3) retired the final eight batters he saw, completing six innings.

Marauders starter Mitch Keller (2-1) turned in seven innings of scoreless baseball, fanning nine while allowing five hits.

The Stone Crabs will hit the road for 10 games Monday. They'll turn to Eduar Lopez (1-2, 3.79) in the first of a four-game series in Lakeland. The Flying Tigers will start LHP Matt Hall (1-2, 6.59). Coverage begins at 6:15 p.m. on the Stone Crabs Baseball Network.
