Utah Grizzlies News Release
West Valley City, Utah- The Grizzlies played arguably their best 60 minutes of hockey on Friday night but it was one of very few breakdowns that led to a shorthanded goal by Scottie Upshall in the first period that proved to be the only marker of the game. Brian Finley made 31 saves earning the shutout for the Admirals who defeated the Grizzlies 1-0.
Upshall's shorthanded goal was the second allowed by the Grizzlies in their last three games and was his first goal of the season. Andrew Hutchinson triggered the play with a crisp pass springing Upshall in for the breakaway effort at 6:24 of the first period. Tony Hrkac also drew an assist.
The Grizzlies outshot the Admirals 31-22 in the game including 12 -7 in the final period of play but were unable to beat Finley who improves to 3-1-0 on the season.
David LeNeveu, starting back-to-back games for the first time this season, made 21 saves and played brilliantly but falls to 0-3-0 on the season with the hard-luck loss.
Utah's special teams struggled allowing the shorthanded goal and going 0 for 7 on the man advantage. Overall, the Grizzlies have missed on 17 straight chances.
The Grizzlies face Milwaukee again tomorrow night in the Bradley Center with face-off scheduled for 6:30 PM (MT).
