Hartford Yard Goats News Release

READING, PA- Forrest Wall belted a home run over the right field wall with two out in the ninth inning and All-Star Matt Pierpont pitched a 1-2-3 ninth for this league-leading 22nd save to lift the Hartford Yard Goats to a 4-3 win over the Reading Fightin Phils Saturday night. The win evened the five-game series at one win apiece and was Hartford's (40-39) 40th of the season.

Yard Goats starter Evan Grills turned in another quality start, pitching six innings and allowing one run on four hits. He struck out five and did not walk a batter. But after Hartford took a 3-1 lead on an RBI-single by Brendan Rodgers and a sacrifice fly by Ryan Metzler, Reading (35-35) tied it with two runs in the seventh. That set the stage for Wall's ninth inning heroics, a solo shot off of reliever Al Rivero.

Sam Hilliard and Brian Bednar led the Hartford attack with two hits each. Austin Listi had three hits for Reading.

Game three of the series is Sunday afternoon at 5:15. RHP Ryan Castellani will pitch for the Yard Goats against LHP JoJo Romero for Reading.

The game will be broadcast on AM 1410 WPOP and streamed on newsradio1410.iheart.com and MiLB.com.
