Harrisburg Senators News Release

The Hartford Yard Goats downed the Harrisburg Senators 5-2 Wednesday night at FNB Field. Daniel Johnson hit his second home run of the season in the loss.

Omar Carrizales hit a solo home run in the second to give Hartford a 1-0 advantage.

The Senators tied the game in the bottom of the frame when Drew Ward doubled in Raudy Read.

In the third, Hartford took the lead on a three-run home run by Brandon Bednar. Daniel Johnson cut the lead to one in the bottom of the frame with a solo home run to right, his second of the season, to trim the deficit to 4-2.

Senators starting pitcher Wil Crowe allowed four runs, one earned because of an error in the third, on five hits while striking out four and walking four in his double-A debut.

"(Crowe) made a few mistakes because he was a little amped up early but I thought he settled down and finished up strong which is a good sign," Senators manager Matt LeCroy said.

Hartford remained ahead 4-2 until they tacked on a run in the ninth. Reid Humphreys allowed a leadoff walk in the bottom of the frame, but nothing past that, as he notched second save and closed the 5-2 win.

Hartford starter Rico Garcia earned the win with seven innings of two run ball.

"You have to tip your cap, (Garcia) did a nice job," LeCroy said. "He had a nice changeup going. He did a really nice job of keeping us off the barrel."

"Hopefully we'll come back tomorrow, get some runs and win the series."

The Senators and Yard Goats play the rubber match of the series Thursday night. Cesar Vargas starts for the Senators opposite Yard Goats starter Evan Grills. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at FNB Field. The game can be heard on CBS Sports Harrisburg 96.5 & 95.3 FM and 1400 AM or at www.cbssportsharrisburg.com beginning at 6:45 p.m.
