Charge Snaps Skyforce Win Streak

Sioux Falls, SD - The Canton Charge had six players finish in double-figures in tonight's 102-84 win over the Sioux Falls Skyforce. The loss snaps a five game winning streak for Sioux Falls.

The Skyforce (17-12) led 26-21 at the end of the first quarter which saw seven lead changes and two ties. Henry Walker was the key to Sioux Falls' first quarter success, scoring 10 points and grabbing six rebounds. A jump-shot from Shawn Jones gave the Skyforce a 35-29 lead with 7:50 remaining in the second quarter but after that the Charge (17-14) began to take over. A driving lay-up from Justin Johnson gave Canton a 37-35 lead which they would never relinquish. The Charge would end the quarter on a 27-8 run and take a 56-43 lead into halftime.

The Charge continued to increase their lead and an Antoine Agudio three-pointer gave them a 65-46 lead with 9:01 remaining in the third quarter. From there, Sioux Falls would begin to chip away and a dunk from Khem Birch brought the Skyforce within nine at the end of the third quarter. Joe Harris, on assignment from the Cleveland Cavaliers, scored ten third quarter points for the Charge.

The Skyforce cut the Canton lead to seven when an alley-oop from Larry Drew II to Birch made the score 78-71 early in the fourth quarter. The seven point deficit was the closest the Skyforce would get the rest of the way as the Charge responded with a 13-1 run to take a 91-72 lead mid-way through the final quarter. Canton held Sioux Falls to a season low 15 fourth quarter points en route to a 102-84 victory. The Charge's win extended their win streak to three and brought a stop to the Skyforce's five game winning streak.

Joe Harris led all scorers with 23 points. The Cleveland Cavaliers' assignee shot 6-15 from the field and 4-8 from three-point range. Justin Johnson (13 points), Chris Crawford (12 points), Brandon Paul (11 points) and Maurice Kemp (10 points) helped the Charge bench outscore the Skyforce bench 53-19 on the night. Canton also dominated the boards, outrebounding Sioux Falls 48-29. Arinze Onuaku led the Charge with 13 rebounds.

Sioux Falls was led by 22 points and seven rebounds from Henry Walker. Shawn Jones (17 points, six rebounds) saw his consecutive double-double streak end at six games. In his first game back with the Skyforce since the completion of his second 10-day contract with the Philadelphia 76ers, Larry Drew II recorded seven points and a game high seven assists.

The Skyforce and Charge are back in action at the Sanford Pentagon tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m.
