Las Vegas Wranglers News Release

Bakersfield, Calif. - The Las Vegas Wranglers fell to the Bakersfield Condors 2-1 in a shootout on Saturday night at Rabobank Arena. Vegas goaltender Mitch O'Keefe made 21 saves in the loss, his first start since Feb. 25. The teams will wrap up their two-game weekend set in Bakersfield tomorrow, Sunday Apr. 6, at 4:00pm.

Despite carrying a 10-7 shooting advantage to the first intermission, the Wranglers would head into the dressing rooms knotted in a scoreless tie after the first 20 minutes of play.

The Wranglers would finally break the deadlock 7:42 into the second frame as Shawn Skelly scored for the second straight game, his 12th goal of the season, and Las Vegas took a 1-0 lead. Assists on the goal, which came on the power-play, went to Greg Coburn (12) and Adam Hughesman (24), who now has three assists over his last two games. The Condors would answer back though as with just 4:05 left in the period Jordan Knackstedt (19) tied the game up 1-1 with assists from Chase Schaeber (26) and Joel Broda (17). The Wranglers kept their shot advantage intact through the second period, heading into the intermission with a 15-13 lead in that category.

With the 1-1 score holding through the third period, the two teams forced overtime to decide a winner. Neither team would be able to break through in the extra frame either, so the pair headed to a best-of-five shootout. Knackstedt beat O'Keefe once again to start the one-on-one finale, putting the Condors on top 1-0. Bakersfield would score twice more, while Nehring buried the lone Las Vegas goal, and the Wranglers fell 3-1 in the shootout, and 2-1 in the game.

The Wranglers and Condors will meet again tomorrow afternoon, Sunday, Apr. 6 at 4:00pm to wrap up a stretch of three consecutive games between the two. After that the Wranglers will head up to Utah to take on the Grizzlies on Wednesday, Apr. 9, before heading over to Stockton for a matchup with the Thunder on Saturday, Apr. 12. Las Vegas will then conclude the regular season campaign with one more stop in Bakersfield, taking on the Condors on Sunday, Apr. 13.
