Schaumburg Boomers News Release

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. - The Schaumburg Boomers rallied from an early 3-0 hole to collect a 6-3 win over the Joliet Slammers on Saturday evening and improve to a season best five games over .500.

Joliet's Kyle Maunus drilled a three-run homer in the top of the second inning to hand the Slammers a 3-0 against starter Chris Phelan. Phelan allowed nothing else, working through six innings to earn his first win as a starter. The Boomers plated four fourth inning runs on RBIs from Brian McConkey, Ty Nelson, Craig Hertler, and Frank Pfister. Steve McQuail homered in the fifth as the Boomers added insurance to claim the win.

Sean Mahley tossed a perfect ninth to earn the save. Pfister finished with three hits and two RBIs as the Boomers amassed 11 hits for the fifth consecutive 10+ showing.

The Boomers (13-8) conclude the brief three-game series on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. RHP Cody Griebling (2-1, 6.65) starts for Schaumburg opposite RHP Evan Anundsen (2-2, 4.86).
