
Miners Lose to CornBelters

Southern Illinois Miners News Release
Normal, IL - The Normal CornBelters defeated the Southern Illinois Miners 8-1 on Saturday night. Cody Hall suffered his second loss of the season. The Miners offense only scored one run despite recording seven hits.
The CornBelters jumped out to an early 8-0 lead off Cody Hall and the Miners after two innings, scoring four runs in the first inning and four in the second. Hall settled down as he only allowed three hits after the second inning and no runs.
The only run of the game for Southern Illinois came in the top of the fifth inning as center fielder Tyler Hall hit a two out base-hit to score third baseman Cannon Lester.
Miners reliever Matt Sergey pitched 1/3 of an inning in relief of Hall in the seventh inning. He struck out CornBelters catcher Chris Wilson. Brandon Cunniff pitched the bottom of the eighth inning and recorded three strikeouts.
The Miners are now 10-10 on the regular season. They will send Travis Bradshaw to the mound in the rubber match against the CornBelters. First pitch will get underway at 6:00 pm.
