TOLEDO, Oh. - An outstanding pitching performance from Toledo's Casey Crosby and a pivotal, five-run fourth inning by the Mud Hens proved to be too much for the Louisville Bats on Saturday night, as they dropped a 6-0 contest to Toledo at Fifth-Third Field.

After wrapping up the month of May with a 15-14 record and an International League-best .288 batting average, the Louisville offense went cold on the first day of June, registering just four hits, and only twice getting runners into scoring position.

Crosby, who lost to Louisville in his first two starts this season, was dominant tonight before being lifted in the seventh inning, allowing just a pair of hits, one walk, and registering eight strike outs in six and two-thirds innings. The left-hander took a no-hitter into the sixth.

Goose eggs lined the scoreboard until Toledo broke out in a big way on Bats starter Daniel Corcino (2-8, 7.50) in the fourth inning when they batted around and put up five runs. Ramon Cabrera, who had the game-winning hit last night for Toledo in their walk-off victory over the Bats, started the onslaught with a two-RBI single up the middle. An untimely Neftali Soto error with two runners on later in the inning scored a third run, which was followed by another two-run single up the middle, this time from Argenis Diaz.

Former Louisville Bat Danny Dorn helped Toledo play add-on an inning later with an RBI double into right that made it a six-run game.

Corcino kept the Mud Hens at bay until the fourth, but was handed the defeat after allowing seven hits, six runs (four earned), and two walks in five innings of work. The right-hander struck out three in his eleventh start of the season.

Konrad Schmidt, who has a modest four-game hitting streak, had a pair of hits for Louisville, and Felix Perez also reached base two times after being hit twice by pitches.

Mike McDougal, Chad Reineke, and Nick Christiani each pitched an inning of effective relief, keeping the Mud Hens scoreless over the last three innings.

Toledo and Louisville will play game three of the series on Sunday at 6:00PM in Toledo. Prized left-handed pitching prospect Tony Cingrani (3-0, 0.37) will start for the Bats. He has allowed just one earned run this season in five triple-A starts. The Mud Hens will counter with Pat Misch (1-3, 6.00), who will be making his first start since a stint on the disabled list.
