Camera Fan, Pack the House Night and Kid's Day Highlight Upcoming Weekend for Stingrays

South Carolina Stingrays News Release


The South Carolina Stingrays hosted the Gwinnett Gladiators, Greenville Road Warriors and Florida Everblades at the North Charleston Coliseum this week for a week record of 2-2-0-0.

The Stingrays kicked off a seven-game homestand Tuesday night with a 3-1 win over the Gladiators. Forwards Robby Dee, Andrew Cherniwchan and Matt Beca lit the lamp and goaltender Jeff Jakaitis made 33 saves. The Road Warriors rolled into town Friday evening and skated away with a 4-1 victory. Forward Patrick Gaul buried his first ECHL goal for the Stingrays.

The weekend wrapped up with a pair of contests against the Everblades Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon. Florida took the opening game 2-0, but the Stingrays responded with a 4-2 triumph the following day. Forwards Hunter Bishop, Chris Langkow and Phil Mangan each recorded a goal and an assist in Sunday's victory.

Taking the Lead

The Stingrays are fourth in the South Division with 44 points and ninth overall in the Eastern Conference.

Goaltender Ryan Zapolski is first in the ECHL with a 1.91 goals-against average, a .929 save percentage and tied for first with three shutouts. The Erie, Pennsylvania, native represents the Stingrays this week during the 2013 ECHL All-Star Skills Competition and All-Star Game on Tuesday, January 22 and Wednesday, January 23 in Loveland, Colorado.
