The Aces opened the scoring when Shawn Skelly finished off a break into the zone for his first goal since joining Alaska. Skelly caught up to a loose puck at center ice, and then with a half-step on the Wranglers defense, slid a shot from the slot along the ice, just inside the left post at 10:53 to make it 1-0 Aces. The lead stood for the majority of the frame, until the final seconds when Las Vegas captain, Mike Madill scored from a very sharp angle on a power play. Madill let a wrist shot go while straddling the end line in the Aces zone that found its way to the net with 1.1 second remaining in the period. The period ended with the clubs tied 1-1 and Las Vegas outshooting Alaska 10-9. Late in the frame Alaska's Dustin Molle and Las Vegas forward Adam Huxley engaged in a terrific fight that lasted over a minute with both men trading shots, and ending the bout both on their feet.

The Wranglers took their first lead of the night in the second period when Andrew Sarauer finished off a shorthanded two-on-one at 4:28. The goal was the first shorthanded goal allowed by the Aces since October 13th. Alaska tied the score on a wraparound effort from Nick Mazzolini at 16:33. The Aces outshot the Wranglers 10-9 in the frame, and the game went into the third period tied 2-2.

The Aces outshot the Wranglers 16-5 in a wild third period, but could not capitalize on several different chances to break the tie. The frame went scoreless, and after neither team scored in overtime, the game was decided in a shootout. The Aces failed to convert on all five attempts, and Las Vegas got a goal in the fourth round from Matt Carter to give them the win.

Mark Guggenberger (16-5-2) made 23 saves on 25 shots and stopped three of four in the shootout in the loss. Joe Fallon (12-10-4) made 33 saves on 35 shots and stopped all five shooters in the win. The Aces went 0-5 on the power play and the Wranglers were 1-6. Alaska outshot Las Vegas 35-26 in the game.

Following a short All-Star Break, the Aces return home to host the San Francisco Bulls this weekend on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Tickets are on sale now.
