Abbotsford, British Columbia - The Abbotsford Heat defeated the Hamilton Bulldogs 3-1 on Tuesday night at Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre. Mike Matczak scored a goal and added an assist while Tyler Ruegsegger notched the game-winner.

The Heat opened the scoring at 19:26 of the opening frame on a power-play tally by Ben Walter. Krys Kolanos picked up the puck behind the net and fed it out in front to Walter in the slot who shot it past Hamilton Bulldogs starting goaltender Cedrick Desjardins. After 20 minutes of play, Abbotsford led Hamilton 14-3 in shots.

The Bulldogs tied the score at 10:44 of the second stanza on Tyler Murovich's first goal as a 'Dog in his first game with the Club, which was on the power play. Murovich waltzed into the zone and lifted a backhander over the glove of Abbotsford Heat starting goaltender Danny Taylor.

Just 12 seconds later at 10:56 of the second, Ruegsegger beat Desjardins to give the Heat a 2-1 lead. After 40 minutes of play, the shots were 24-10 for Abbotsford.

The Heat took a two-goal lead on a goal by Matczak at 5:54 of the third frame. Matczak took a shot from the far circle which flew over the left shoulder of Desjardins into the top corner of the net. Abbotsford finished with 36 shots while Hamilton finished with 15.

The Bulldogs' next game is against the Heat in Abbotsford tonight at 10:00 p.m. All 'Dogs games will be broadcast on Hamilton's Funny 820 (AM 820).
