Skyforce Acquires Two Former NBA Players
January 3, 2013 - NBA Development League (D-League) Sioux Falls Skyforce
Sioux Falls, S.D. (Jan. 3, 2013) - The Sioux Falls Skyforce announced today that the team has acquired guard Donald Sloan and forward Mychel Thompson from the Erie BayHawks in a three-team deal. Erie receives forward Mike Singletary from the Rio Grande Valley Vipers and a second round pick in the 2013 NBA Development League Draft from Sioux Falls. Rio Grande Valley receives guard Andrew Goudelock to complete the trade.Sloan has NBA career averages of 5.0 points and 2.7 assists in 53 games with the Cleveland Cavaliers (45), New Orleans Hornets (3) and Atlanta Hawks (5). He averaged 4.0 points and 1.9 assists in 20 games with the Cavaliers this season before being waived on Dec. 25. The 6-3, 205-pound guard averaged 22.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 7.4 assists in eight games with Erie last season before earning a call-up to Atlanta. He was later signed by New Orleans before eventually finishing the season with Cleveland.
Thompson averaged 10.3 points and 4.4 rebounds in 12 games (all starts) with Erie this season after attending training camp with the New York Knicks. He was named to the NBA Development League All-Rookie Second Team after averaging 13.8 points and 4.1 rebounds last season. The 6-7, 215-pound forward averaged 3.6 points and 1.4 assists in five games (three starts) with Cleveland last season.
