Austin, TX January 3, 2013 - It was a tough battle for the Austin Toros (7-8) who lost 109-107 against the Idaho Stampede (3-12) for the first time this season Thursday afternoon at Cedar Park Center. The Toros led most of the game until a fourth quarter Stampede comeback put them away. With 16 seconds left on the clock and the Toros up one, Idaho forward Justin Harper hit a three point shot and was fouled to seal the win for the Stampede. He would finish the game with 14 points.
Idaho had seven of their ten players finish the game in double digit scoring. Forward Durrell Summers led the way for the Stampede with 20 points. Other notable performances included Carlon Brown, 16 points, Sean Evans, 14 points and Coby Karl, 13 points. Josh Owens and Seth Tarver each contributed 10 points.
The Toros shot well from the floor at 55% including 11-14 from downtown. Jamarr Sanders led all scorers with a personal best 22 points. Tyler Wilkerson (18 points, 10 rebounds) and Rick Jackson (10 points, 10 rebounds) each finished with double-doubles this afternoon. Tre Kelley would finish with a game-high 8 assists.
The Toros face the Rio Grande Valley Vipers tomorrow Friday, Jan. 4th at 7:30pm at Cedar Park Center in their first matchup of the season.
