Admirals Stymied by Pickard, Monsters

Milwaukee Admirals News Release
MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Admirals fired a season high 43 shots on net, but could only get one by Lake Erie goalie Calvin Pickard as the Monsters toppe the Ads 2-1 on Friday night at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
The Admirals outshot the Monsters 43-19 overall and 15-1 in the third period, but Pickard, the brother of former Ads netminder Chet Pickard, withstood the attack.
However, for the first time all season it was the Admirals who got on the board first, as Michael Latta got his first tally of the season on the power-play 12:24 of the opening stanza. Latta jumped on a loose puck right in front of the crease and jammed it by Pickard. Unfortunately for Milwaukee, it was all they would get for the whole game.
Lake Erie evened the score with just 47 seconds left in the first as they also scored the power-play as Bryan Lang got his team-leading sixth of the year.
The Monsters got the game-winner in the second on an impressive display of hand-eye coordination by Luke Walker. With the Ads on the man-advantage, Lake Erie managed to get possession of the puck in the Milwaukee zone and Paul Carey got off a shot that was saved byAds netminder Jeremy Smith and deflected to Walker, who batted it out of mid-air and into an open net.
The Admirals hit the road Saturday night when they travel to Peoria to battle former captain Scott Ford and the Peoria Rivermen at 7:05 pm
The Admirals return to home ice on Friday night, November 9 when they play host to the Chicago Wolves at 7:00 pm. Fans should call Ticketmaster at 800-745-3000 or by logging onto www.ticketmaster.com. Groups of 10 or more receive significant discounts off the original ticket price.
