
Captains to Have Roberto Hernandez as Starter on Sunday

(Eastlake, OH) - The Lake County Captains, class A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians, will have former Captains pitcher, and 2003 South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Year, Roberto Hernandez as its starting pitcher on Sunday August 5, when the Captains take on the South Bend Silver Hawks. Game time is 7 PM and tickets for the game are on sale at the Classic Park box office, online at captainsbaseball.com and by phone at 440-954-WINS (9467).
Hernandez pitched for the Captains on July 26, which was his first rehab assignment since rejoining the Indians organization. He pitched five innings and allowed three runs, one earned, on six hits while striking out four. He got the win in the game.
Hernandez was a South Atlantic League All Star and was also named to the Baseball America low class "A" all star team during his season in Lake County. His 17 wins were best in the entire Indians organization and he eventually became the first Lake County Captains player to play for the Cleveland Indians. He made his major league debut on April 15, 2006 and defeated the Detroit Tigers, becoming the first Indians rookie to win their debut start since 2002.
