Bowling Green Hot Rods News Release

Bowling Green, KY - Alejandro Segovia hit a first-inning grand slam to pace the Bowling Green Hot Rods (25-14, 63-46) in a 5-3 win over the Great Lakes Loons (17-22, 51-58) on Thursday night at Bowling Green Ballpark. In the win in game three of the four-game set, Roberto Gomez hurled three scoreless innings of relief to earn his ninth win. Ryan Brett also recorded his seventh three-hit night of the season for the Hot Rods, who improve to 5-1 on the homestand.

For the second straight night, Great Lakes jumped out to an early lead with a run in the top of the first inning. However, unlike Wednesday, the Hot Rods quickly erased the early deficit on Thursday night. Brett began the frame with a double, and, after one-out walks to Kes Carter and Cameron Seitzer, Segovia homered to left field on the first pitch he saw from Raydel Sanchez. The grand slam was Segovia's second of the season and gave the Hot Rods an early cushion.

Making the grand slam play an even bigger role in the game, Bowling Green's offense struggled to take advantage of opportunities throughout the rest of the contest. The team finished 1-9 with runners in scoring position, using Segovia's grand slam as the only hit in that category. Brett provided another bright spot by recording three of Bowling Green's seven hits at the plate.

Thanks to solid pitching by starter Felipe Rivero and relievers Roberto Gomez and Jake Partridge, the Hot Rod were able to hang on for the win. Gomez and Partridge did not allow an earned run in the final six innings, and Partridge retired the final eight Loons for his third save of the year.

Bowling Green Ballpark will host the seven-game homestand finale on Friday night at 7:05 PM as the Hot Rods host the Loons for the fourth and final game of the series. Bowling Green will give the pearl to RHP Trevor Shull (3-6, 5.37), while Great Lakes will send LHP Miguel Sulbaran (0-1, 27.00) to the mound. Tune in to the game on the flagship station for the Hot Rods Radio Network, WBGN-AM 1340 "The Ticket" and online at 1340wbgn.com. The Forever Communications Pregame Show with Hank Fuerst begins at 6:45.

The Hot Rods welcome the Russian Bar Trio to Bowling Green Ballpark on Friday night. For more information about coming to see the Russian Bar Trio, a group that was made famous on NBC's "America's Got Talent", visit BGHotRods.com or call the Hot Rods at (270)-901-2121.
