JOHN, MINDI, MARK, AND MITCHELL'S STORY

When it comes to fighting crime, police officers are the people for the job. For four local citizens, though, an occasion recently transpired where they were able to offer police some assistance in apprehending a suspect.

On February 2nd, John and Mindi Stacey, Mitchell Long and Mark Shaw witnessed a suspect fleeing a local store on foot. The four worked together as the suspect fled into Kettering. John and Mindi Stacey followed the suspect in their vehicle while Mark and Mitchell pursued on foot.

The man tried to break into a house but due to being followed on foot, continued to flee. The Stacey's then blocked the suspect with their vehicle. He tried to steal their vehicle by forcing his way in, but Long and Shaw were able to detain the man until police arrived.

John, Mindi, Mark and Mitchell were presented the Citizenship Award of Valor by the Kettering Police Department.

For their heroic efforts, John and Mindi Stacey, Mitchell Long and Mark Shaw have been selected as Dragons Community All-Stars. During an inning break, a tribute video will be played on the videoboard, and they will be presented with a plaque.

The Dragons Community All-Stars Program is made possible by the generous support of Vectren. For more information on the program or to read about the All-Stars we have honored so far, visit daytondragons.com.
