Kane County Cougars News Release


GENEVA, IL - The Kane County Cougars, in conjunction with the Kansas City Royals, have announced that pitcher Edwin Carl has joined the Cougars from Class-A Advanced Wilmington. Carl takes the active roster spot of pitcher Kyle Smith, who has been moved to the inactive list due to sickness. Carl is scheduled to start this evening's game at Beloit. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.

Carl (Non-drafted free agent, 2010) was part of the Cougars' Opening Day roster and was transferred from Kane County to Wilmington on May 25. As a Cougar earlier this season, Carl went 4-2 with a 2.11 ERA in 10 starts, and won 3 of his last 4 starts before the promotion. In 15 games with the Blue Rocks, Carl was 2-2 with a 4.42 ERA.
