Sacramento River Cats News Release

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. - One of Raley Field's most popular promotions returns on Thursday, Aug. 2, when fans will get to vote for their favorite presidential candidate and walk away with a souvenir in the 2012 Wobblection / Wobblehead Giveaway.

Prior to Thursday's Sacramento River Cats game against the visiting Memphis Redbirds, the first 2,500 fans through the gates will get to "vote" for either Barack Obama or Mitt Romney by choosing a Wobblehead of one of the 2012 presidential candidates. Once one Wobblehead runs out, that candidate will be declared the winner of this season's first mock election.

In addition, California Secretary of State Debra Bowen will be on hand to throw out the first pitch, and there will be three voter registration tables at the ballpark so fans can register to vote in this November's real election.

The Wobblection makes its first return to Raley Field since Aug. 20, 2010, when Meg Whitman narrowly defeated Jerry Brown in that year's Bobblehead election, only to fall to Governor Brown in the November election. The River Cats also held a mock election in 2008, when Obama defeated John McCain both at the ballpark and at the polls.
