Reno Aces News Release
RENO, Nev. - Josh Bell hit a tape-measure two-run home run in the fourth, and Adam Eaton followed with an inside-the-park homer in the sixth, as the Reno Aces earned a 9-7 victory over the Sacramento River Cats Monday night at Aces Ballpark.
Sacramento jumped on the board with a run in the first, and later took a 2-0 lead in the fourth. But the Aces fired back in a big way, scoring eight times over the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to take a lead they wouldn't relinquish. Sacramento cut into the deficit in the eighth, homering three times in the frame to draw within two. The River Cats would not, though, get any closer.
Aces starter Charles Brewer (7-6) earned the victory Monday, scattering three runs on eight hits with five strikeouts over 5.1 innings of work. After his exit, the River Cats clawed back before Jonathan Albaladejo entered in the eighth and shut Sacramento down for a six-out save.
The loss fell to River Cats starter Brandon McCarthy (0-1), who surrendered six runs in 3.2 innings, pitching on a Major League Rehabilitation Assignment from the Oakland A's.
Bell's homer was part of a six-run fourth inning for the Aces. Eaton's inside-the-park homer in the sixth was the first for Reno since Chris Rahl accomplished the feat in 2010. Bell finished with three hits, while Eaton collected four to increase his Minor League lead to 159 on the season.
The Aces go for the series victory over Sacramento in the finale Tuesday afternoon. LHP Patrick Corbin (3-2, 3.44 ERA) toes the slab for Reno, while LHP Brett Anderson (0-0, 6.75 ERA) takes the ball for the River Cats on a Major League Rehabilitation Assignment. First pitch is set for 1:05 p.m. PT, and it'll be another 2-for-$22 Tuesday, where fans can get two tickets, two hot dogs and two sodas for just $22.
Tickets are on-sale now at RenoAces.com, by calling (775) 334-7000 or by visiting the Aces Ballpark Ticket Office.
