Bowling Green Hot Rods News Release

Bowling Green, KY - Alejandro Segovia and Jeff Malm both knocked grand slams for the Bowling Green Hot Rods (6-4 / 44-36), who beat the Dayton Dragons (2-8 / 32-48) 20-10 at Bowling Green Ballpark on Sunday evening. The twenty runs mark the most runs ever scored by any team in Bowling Green Ballpark history in one game. Bowling Green fell two runs shy of their season-high for runs in game this season, scoring 22 times on April 15 in Lake County.

Much like Saturday night, it was another big inning early in the game for the Hot Rods, who scored five times in the bottom of the first on Sunday. Segovia's grand slam, the first of two in the game, came with two outs and gave the Hot Rods a 5-2 advantage. Earlier in the inning Todd Glaesmann drove in the first Hot Rods run with an RBI single to left field.

After Dayton tied the score at five apiece in the top of the fifth, the Hot Rods used one of Glaesmann's four hits to re-take the lead for good. With a runner at first and one out, Glaesmann lined a ball off the top of the fence in left field and into the Hot Rods bullpen for his twelfth home run of the season. Glaesmann leads the Eastern Division in home runs and stands in third place in the Midwest League.

The Hot Rods then scored five runs in the sixth inning and seven in the seventh to take a commanding lead in the contest. Four of the runs in the seventh inning came courtesy of Jeff Malm, who knocked the second grand slam of the game for the Hot Rods. At the end of seven, Bowling Green led 19-7.

The impressive stat lines for the Hot Rods offense were aplenty on Sunday. Ryan Brett and Glaesmann each had four hits, and Cameron Seitzer and Malm both knocked three. Segovia and Glaesmann each drove in four runs, and Malm added another with five total RBI's on the night.

Jake Floethe improved to 7-1 on the season, pitching five innings and allowinf four earned runs. Stayton Thomas earned his second save of the year, hurling the final four innings to preserve the game and the arms in the Hot Rods bullpen.

Bowling Green's series with Dayton continues on Monday night at 7:05 PM at Bowling Green Ballpark. The Hot Rods will give the pearl to LHP Ryan Carpenter (7-4, 4.01), while the Dragons will send RHP Jacob Johnson (0-1, 3.60) to the mound.
