
Snappers Swept by LumberKings

Beloit, WI- With a record-breaking crowd in attendance of 2,564, the Snappers dropped their third, and last, game of the series with the Clinton LumberKings by a score of 10-5.
The Clinton LumberKings started hot with a leadoff base hit by Dillon Hazlett. Soon after, designated hitter, Ji-Man Choi blasted a two-run homer to give the LumberKings an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first.
The LumberKings added three more runs in the top of the second with a two RBI single from Jamal Austin, scoring Dan Paolini and Steven Baron who both singled. Choi continued his hot streak at the plate with an RBI single scoring Austin.
In the bottom of the third inning, the Snappers got on the board with a solo home run by Jairo Rodriguez, his second of the season. With one out, Nate Roberts was hit by a pitch, he moved to second base on a wild pitch from Jordan Shipers. Miguel Sano followed with a bomb over the left field fence to bring in two more runs. Sano is now leading the Midwest League in home runs with 17.
Guillermo Pimentel led off the top of the fourth inning with an infield single. Anthony Phillips continued the LumberKings hitting streak with a double to center field scoring Pimentel from first base. Dillon Hazlett was hit by a pitch reaching first base. Cole Johnson entered the game to replace Jason Wheeler, who pitched three innings allowing six runs off eight hits with three walks and two strikeouts. Jamal Austin loaded the bases with a hit through an infield gap. With the bases loaded, Ramon Morla grounded out to second base, but managed to drive in the runner from third base.
John Taylor entered the game in the bottom of the sixth inning for the LumberKings, replacing Shipers who went five innings allowing three runs with two hits, two walks, and one strikeout.
Bart Carter came in to relieve Johnson to start the seventh.
Dillon Hazlett added to the LumberKings scoring streak in the eighth with a solo homer. Austin added a hit over the head of Snappers' second baseman, Tyler Grimes. Choi kept the hits coming with his fourth hit of the game, advancing Austin to second. Blash blasted a hard RBI single up the middle, almost hitting Carter. Paolini took a walk to load the bases for Baron who delivered with an RBI single to right field.
Clint Dempster came in to pitch for Carter in the top of the ninth inning.
Drew Leachman walked to start the ninth inning. He advanced on a walk to Steven Liddle, a fly out to right by Matt Koch, and scored on a wild pitch. Rodriguez walked and Grimes was hit to load the bases. With the bases loaded and a full count, Nate Roberts took a walk to score Liddle from third. With two outs, Andrew Kittredge entered the game for Clinton. With two outs and a full count, Adam Bryant was called out on strikes, ending the game.
The Snappers are back in action tomorrow against the Cedar Rapids Kernels with the first pitch at 4:00. Matt Summers will be taking the mound with a record of 7-4 and an ERA of 3.69 after 90.1 innings.
