June 30, 2012 - Atlantic League (AtL) Lancaster Barnstormers
The York Revolution slammed two pairs of back-to-back homers on Saturday afternoon to drop the Lancaster Barnstormers, 7-4, in the opener of a day-night doubleheader at Clipper Magazine Stadium.York climbed back to within four games of the division leading Barnstormers.
Danny Gonzalez belted a two-run homer over the picnic tents in right field with one out in the second inning off J.D. Durbin (3-6). Liu Rodriguez followed with a drive into the net in right center as the Revolution jumped out to a 3-0 lead.
That edge was extended to 4-0 in the third. Adam Godwin cut down Kyle Haines at the plate on a single by Michael Hernandez, but Rian Kiniry followed with a bloop hit to left, scoring Andres Perez.
Lancaster roared back in the home half of the third. Brad Boyer homered to the picnic deck leading off the frame. Two outs later, Fehlandt Lentini singled to left. He scored on Terry Tiffee's double to the alley in right center. The Barnstormer fourth opened with a single into the right field corner by Jaime Pedroza and a bunt base hit by Kody Kirkland. It fizzled in a hurry as Boyer lined to Hernandez in right, and Kirkland was doubled off first. Corey Thurman (7-1) did not allow another hit through the end of the seventh.
An unearned run in the top of the fifth pushed the York lead back to two, and it remained there until the ninth when Ramon Castro and Perez connected consecutively for a 7-3 lead. Lancaster did battle back with singles by Kirkland and Boyer producing a single tally in the bottom of the inning before Adam Thomas shut the door for his third save.
