York Revolution News Release

The York Revolution dropped the second game of their day-night doubleheader in Lancaster, losing 7-3 to the Barnstormers in front of 5,858 fans at Clipper Magazine Stadium on Saturday evening. The Revs now trail the Barnstormers by 5.0 games with eight remaining in the season's first half, as Lancaster's magic number to clinch a playoff berth shrinks to four.

Lancaster used the long ball to build an early 4-0 lead. Jaime Pedroza's two-run homer to left in the bottom of the second provided the first runs, and solo shots from Ryan Harvey and Emerson Frostad in the fourth added to it.

The Revs clawed back within a single run in the sixth. Scott Grimes' two-out RBI single to center in the fifth off reliever Les Walrond got York on the board, and the Revs rallied against Walrond an inning later, as they were on the verge of going in front. Andres Perez led off the sixth with a homer to left, his tenth of the season tying him for the team lead as he went deep in both games of Saturday's doubleheader. Travis Scott later ripped an RBI single to left-center extending his hitting streak to 10 consecutive games, and bringing York within 4-3 with two runners on and still no outs. Kyle Haines' sacrifice bunt pushed the tying and go-ahead runs into scoring position with one out, but reliever Ross Peeples retired both batters faced, keeping Lancaster in front.

The Barnstormers immediately struck for three runs in the bottom of the sixth, and the Revs were never able to recover. A throwing error by pitcher Dumas Garcia on a sacrifice bunt allowed the first run to score, as his throw to third attempting to record a lead out got away from third baseman Ramon Castro. Adam Godwin then chipped a broken-bat single over the drawn-in infield and into shallow left-center, and the final run crossed when Brandon Haveman overran the ball looking to make a throw, as he was also charged with an error.

Peeples (1-0) earned the win in relief for Lancaster, settling things down for a Barnstormer bullpen that combined to retire 11 of the final 12 batters, not allowing a hit after the sixth.

Lancaster spot starter Horacio Ramirez tossed four scoreless innings in a no-decision, making his first start.

Revs starter Chris Waters (1-1) was charged with his first loss, allowing four runs in four innings of work.

The Revs (33-29) see their four-game winning streak against Lancaster end, now leading this year's "War of the Roses" series 6-3 with one meeting left in the first half, which is set for Sunday evening. The Revs also finish the month of June with a 19-11 record, matching the club's best ever mark for wins in a month along with the 2007 Revs who went 19-11 in July of that season.

York's Omar Javier (0-5, 5.44) will face Lancaster's Dwayne Pollok (4-0, 2.06) on Sunday evening at 6 p.m. in the series finale at Clipper Magazine Stadium. Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350 and Shoutcast.com (YorkRevs) beginning at 5:30 p.m. with Darrell Henry on the call.
