LONG ISLAND, New York - Steve Moss registered the only hit and run of game three for the Skeeters against the Ducks at Bethpage Ballpark Saturday night with his second home run of the season in a late-inning 2-1 thriller.

The Sugar Land Skeeters (26-36) conclude the four-game series with the Long Island Ducks (37-24) tomorrow afternoon sending Dustin Richardson (1-0) to the mound against Dan Meyer (2-4). First pitch is scheduled for 4:05 p.m. CDT at Bethpage Ballpark.

It was a stalemate for starting pitching in a lackluster hitting night for both squads. Skeeters starter Michael Nix received the no-decision firing five full innings allowing just one earned run on two hits and five walks with three strikeouts. Ducks hurler Jason Monti also picked up a no-decision after giving up one earned run on two walks and one hit with four strikeouts in six innings of work.

The first run was scored in the bottom of the third by the Ducks off Nix. After two foul outs to catcher Manny Mejia, designated-hitter Brandon Sing tallied the first hit of the game for either side with a two-out double into left-center field. Bubba Bell made up excellent ground to track the ball down, but it popped out of his glove when he collided with the wall. In the very next at-bat, third baseman Bryant Nelson doubled the opposite way into right-center field allowing Sing to come in standing up, 1-0.

Monti retired the side in order through the first three innings and only faced four batters in the fourth, but the fifth started shakily for the righty. Right fielder Steve Moss was the only batter to reach base in all three at-bats in the night for Sugar Land. To lead off the fifth, he crushed a ball over the right field wall for his second home run of the season tying the game at 1-1.

Pedro Liriano (3-3) relieved Nix in the sixth inning, and the two pitchers combined to retire 15 of 16 batters from the RBI-double in the third to the game-winning home run in the eighth. Again, with two outs in the inning, Sing approached the plate with nobody on base. Liriano left a two-seam fastball out over the plate, and Sing lifted it up and over the right-field wall for his league-tying 13th homer of the season and his third in as many games against the Skeeters. That shot gave the Ducks a 2-1 lead heading into the ninth.

Closer Jon Hunton (3) came in to finish out the game retiring the side in order to give reliever and former Florida Marlin and New York Mets closer Armando Benitez (2-0) is second win in as many outings after going just one inning against the Skeeters.
